Familie Mantler, Blütenreich Zweigelt 2021

Familie Mantler are a true family-run winery. Started in 1922, they are now into their fourth generation of family ownership when current custodians and brothers, Thomas & Benedict, took the reigns in 2010. Based around the small village of Ebersbrunn in Austria's Weinviertel region, the family focuses on the reds and whites for which Austria is best known. Blütenreich ("flowery") Zweigelt 2021 is a cracking lighter-styled Zweiglet. The grapes were hand-harvested and aged for 18 months in large acacia barrels, which doesn't impart any flavour into the wine but nicely softens it. Fresh and fruity, it has notes of raspberry, cherry and red plum; the palate is rounded and soft, with further fruity notes and smooth finish.
